Day 101, 1 August: Red’s Meadow

It’s always bittersweet leaving this hostel, which has become so much like home by now. I still had most of the morning available to hang out before the bus, and I made the most of the time I had with the others. Eventually, the time came for us to leave and I headed out with Holiday to catch the bus to Mammoth.

The Hostel California crew, Matt, Fortune Cookie, Holiday, Rox, Sarah, myself, Star, Chris, Kyle and Hungry Bear

From Mammoth, it’s another bus ride to Red’s Meadow, just a few miles up the trail from where I got off. There are other hikers on this bus too, and we have fun riding out to the trail.

At Red’s Meadow, we bump into hummingbird, who was also at the hostel last time I was there a little over a week ago. We set up camp there and hung out around a campfire with her and a few others, including the hikers from the bus, Chapless and Fast Molasses.

After all this time, this is the first campfire on trail for me
